olympics and a story

"Aw, man," were the exact words of Noelle yesterday, when the final results were in. She was in Bronze medal position with one more left to slide. And that person pushed her into 4th place. She missed the medals by about a tenth of a second. "Aw, man," is RIGHT!

But, as always, she remained positive and firm in her belief that everything happens for a reason. Noelle made everyone who was cheering for her proud!

Before they showed the skeleton competition, I was watching ice dancing. I've never really been a fan of this portion of the Olympics. Ice skating, I'll watch. Ice dancing, not so much. I remembered why last night. The compete in 4 different areas, and last night every single couple (I think there were 16) danced the exact same steps to the exact same song. That song was driving me BONKERS after the third or fourth time around. Please remember I was watching only because I didn't know when they were showing skeleton. I didn't want to miss it. Anyway, as it got closer to the end, the song only drove me more crazy! So I muted the tv and turned on my own music. I was listening to Carrie Underwood's "Undo It" song, when I looked up at the tv again. The couple on the ice was dancing perfectly to the rhythm of my song.

See ice dancing pros? You can dance to different songs!

Finally, a story. One of my 3rd graders yesterday asked me what my favorite color was. I told her it was orange. Just a few minutes later, she walked up and showed me the back of her writing journal. I read the orange crayon writing that said, "I like Mrs. Wedd." It was so cute!

strike that, reverse it

You're a winner if you can name that movie!

Anyhow, Jon and I looked at the TV schedule, and since today is only the prelims in Skeleton, they aren't showing them until about 11:30 PM. What a bummer!

But tomorrow night during prime time they'll show the races for the medal round! So watch it tomorrow instead! I hope Noelle makes it!

You can see more cool pictures of Noelle while supporting her business here. :)

olympics

Skeleton is on tonight, which means Noelle is racing! You can watch her race on NBC this evening!

This is Noelle :)

thoughts

1. I know someone AMAZING! She was just on TV moments ago, in the opening ceremonies of the olympics. Noelle Pikus-Pace. She was a big influence in my life, and I'm so excited that she was able to go to the olympics this year! They showed her for a few short seconds, dancing away in the stands, with blue and red streaks in her hair.

2. I also know a funny boy at work. He's a 6th grader. Yesterday I was in a crazy mood. It was the last 15 minutes of the day, and the kids and myself were ready to go home. But, we still had to do fry phrases for 15 more minutes. So, as I was walking down the stairs in the little theater, I may or may not have sang a little bit. Just some "do-de-do-de-do's," but he thought it was funny enough to say, "Mrs. Webb, you're so AWESOME today!" I turned to look at him, and he quickly added, "as ALWAYS!" Haha!

3. Back to the olympics. Should I be capitalizing Olympics? I'm not sure. Anyway, my favorite olympic sport, hands down, is speed skating. I've always loved it. It's so fast paced and intense. Of course this year I'll be making a point to watch the skeleton competition to see Noelle, and I also love the ski aerials, where they do cool flips and stuff in the air.

4. LONG WEEKEND! Enough said there.

5. Tomorrow, Mr. Webb and I are celebrating Valentine's Day. He's going to take me out to dinner, and then we are going to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. CAN'T WAIT! I've been waiting for this movie to come out for a long time!

6. I want to make some hip and happenin' yet cheap home decorations. Any ideas?

new microwave

Because, sadly, our old one decided to stop working. But we LOVE our new one. It heats water to the PERFECT temperature for hot chocolate, and pops the perfect bag of popcorn. Plus, now we only have to wait 30 seconds for leftovers to heat instead of 3 minutes!

The one downside is that is is HUGE! We new it would be bigger than our old one, but I seriously think I could fit in this microwave!

Molly loved that we got a new microwave, because I let her play with the box and packing supplies for the day.

more kitty

I know most of you probably don't care about my cat, but I have three pictures I can't pass up.

Picture #1 - I was making some cards, so all of my craft stuff was out. I reach down to get some paper out of my box, and this is what I see:

Picture #2 - Our cat LOVES plastic grocery bags. When we come home with groceries, she meows and meows until we unload one bag and give it to her. She went crazy with one the other day. Here's how she ended up:

Picture #3 - We got a little water fountain for fun. Before realizing that it was water running, Molly had to play with it.

football cupcakes

Batch of cupcakes #1 for contest: SUPERBOWL CUPCAKES.

My brother-in-law's birthday was on Saturday, and for his birthday party, he wanted the family to watch the super bowl together. So, I made cupcakes! They turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself. :)

book fair

When I was in elementary school, I don't think I really appreciated the book fair as much as I should have. As an adult working at an elementary school, I have taken full advantage of the book fair that happened this week. It was a buy one, get one free deal, and I purchased 6 books for $28. One of the books was $20 by itself. That means 5 books for $8. Amazing? I think so!

My favorite book so far has been The Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. It has a good rhythm, and it made me laugh a lot! It's about the pout pout fish, who thinks that he can't change the fact that he pouts all the time.

hula hoop

I love hula hooping.

Last summer I tried hula hooping with two hoops for the first time.

My amazing sister caught some AWESOME shots of me.

My in-laws got a Wii Fit. My favorite thing to do? The hula hooping game.

What is your favorite toy from childhood?
