spring cleaning!

Last week, Mr. Webb and I planted peas and pruned our apricot tree. This past Friday I really, really cleaned the front rooms of our house, and most of our bathroom. I don't mind spring cleaning as much as I used to. It's even a little bit...fun! *Gasp!* How dare I say cleaning is fun?

Here are some pictures of the pruning:

hare krishna!

Yesterday we got to go to the Krishna temple and celebrate Hare Krishna, or the Festival of Colors. It was such a blast, though a little tiring. It also makes you crave clean air. :) This is how they, and this year WE, got to welcome spring:

me and my good pal!

my shirt looks so cool, i think i want one that's supposed to look like this

mr. webb and i at the beginning

just the crazy crowd...

there were so many people there!

orange deliciousness

Last Sunday, my mother-in-law helped me make these extremely delicious orange rolls. I've never made rolls like this before, and it was very interesting to learn how. It was just an added bonus that I got to eat them. :)

Easter is coming! I put my decorations up a few days ago, and I'm looking forward to dying eggs with Mr. Webb.

I'm also looking forward (in the VERY distant future) to taking pictures like these:

my sisters, me, and my brother

the capacity song

My coworker is so creative, and helped me come up with a song to help my math kids remember their capacity equivalents.

To the tune of The Addams Family

Duh duh duh duh (clap, clap),
Duh duh duh duh (clap, clap),
Duh duh duh duh,
Duh duh duh duh,
Duh duh duh duh (clap, clap).

There's 2 cups in 1 pi-int,
There's 2 pints in 1 qua-art,
There's 4 quarts in 1 gallon,
It's called capacity!

Duh duh duh duh (clap, clap),
Duh duh duh duh (clap, clap),
Duh duh duh duh,
Duh duh duh duh,
Duh duh duh duh (clap, clap).

My 3rd graders loved it!

My 6th graders...not so much. But I made them sing it anyway! :)

peter pan

We have a guest room/future kid's room, and I've been starting to collect Peter Pan paraphernalia to put in it. So far I have a set of four lithographs and this movie poster from Disney Movie Rewards (love this site). I've been looking for a thing or two more, and I've decided that I either want this, or this with this.

Which do you like better?

magic bullet is magic!

As a more-than-a-month-early birthday present, Mr. Webb purchased me a Magic Bullet on a killer sale! I absolutely love it! I got it on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning we made strawberry-pineapple smoothies, and at this very moment I am sipping a delicious malt. It's the best more-than-a-month-early birthday present I've ever received!

I = LOVE!

One more thing that I got this week. A Chi straightener for $20! What!? It's amazing! I can straighten my hair in half the time, and it doesn't make my hair frizzy. It makes it soft and smooth.

Best non-birthday week ever!

happy birthday

In December, we had a Christmas gift exchange at work. As a joke, one of the guys that I work with got my co-math teacher a very creepy porcelain doll.

Her birthday was a few weeks ago, so we broke out the doll and dressed it up for the occasion.

It was so funny when she walked in and saw it! We have too much fun at work.

Like tomorrow, when we'll be making cookies in math class to review measurement. :)

march 14 (3/14)

Happy PI (3.14...) day!

Eat some pie in celebration!

Someday, I'm going to make a pie like this one that I found on google images.

thank goodness for coworkers!

Yesterday at work, it was decided that I would switch back to teaching math in the afternoons instead of literacy.

I love teaching literacy. It's not as clear cut and set in stone as math. You have more freedom to have fun and enjoy making the lessons.

Math scares me. I've never enjoyed math, even though I'm good at it. I taught it in the fall for a few weeks when my coworker was gone, and that was enough for me.

But now I am back. And I have to plan a week of geometry/graphing and data lessons for next week. Needless to say, yesterday I was feeling really, really stressed.

Then, around 8, my coworker (who will be teaching math with me) called me. She wasn't stressed, because she was now getting a teaching partner. She called because both our husbands were at work until 10, and I'm guessing she knew I was pretty stressed out. So I went over to hang out at her house. We made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, mandarin orange shakes (YUM!) and watched a movie. It was so awesome, and I'm so grateful for an amazing coworker/friend who I'll hopefully being doing more stuff with in the future.

Thanks, J!

good memory

My senior year, on the bus going to California for band/orchestra tour. I love these girls!

a joke, courtesy of my brother

Knock, knock

(this is where you'd say, "Who's there?")

Goliath

(and now you'd say, "Goliath who?")

"Goliath" down, you looketh tired!

I cracked up when my brother told me this joke, and he thought I was lame.

and now for a disgusting post (i warned you, sis)

This is my littlest piggy aka pinky toe after five days of being bandaged, having antibiotic cream smeared on it, and living in flip-flops instead of squishy shoes.

I'm a super klutzy person, and I actually sliced my toe open with a broken corner of a mirror. Yes. Yes, I made that happen. Of course, I also broke my own arm in elementary school, so I guess anything is possible! Anyway, I'm thinking my toe might actually let me wear normal shoes to work tomorrow, so I can be all professional again. We'll see. It's been slightly painful.

violin

This terribly focused picture was taken at my very last violin recital with my amazing group of violin friends (minus a couple who weren't seniors) and my violin teacher. I love teaching violin lessons now, but sometimes I really, really miss getting together once a month to play with them.

twins

So, this picture is from Thanksgiving, but I love it. This is Mr. Webb and my adorable nephew. We arrived at my family's house before leaving to get family pictures, and they were wearing the same outfit. It was too cute to pass up taking a picture.

dear president obama

Two weeks ago, we were writing letters in our after school program. One of my groups wanted to write letters to President Obama.

Here is what my first grader's letter said:

Dear President Obama,

What do you eat when you get mad?

From, (student's name), 1st grade
