Today on the way to the grocery store, Mr. Webb and I saw this sign in a construction zone:
Double Lane Closure
Tell Sunday Night
Really?

this is not the visitor i wanted to see outside my door...
Apparently, this little fella...okay - BIG fella - is called a cat-faced spider. And it is NASTY! I found it outside on my porch yesterday, and it was the size of my big toe. SICK! The only reason I know what it's called is because my brother saw one yesterday, too, on a campout. And one of the boys he was with knew what it was called. I looked them up, and they're harmless (but I'm not believing THAT), I guess. But it was huge, and it looked like a crab, so I trapped it underneath a cottage cheese carton so Mr. Webb could see it (and kill it) when he got home.
They're called cat-faced spiders because their puffy abdomen (which I thought was an egg sac, but isn't) has little indents that look like eyes and pointy bits that look like ears. You can google it for better pictures that really do look like cat faces.
Goodbye, cat-faced spider. Please don't come again. You're creepy!

recent happenings
- I've decided to "Spring" clean my house. In the fall. I'm getting closer to being done with my kitchen - hopefully the hardest room in the house! It's a mess right now.
- Even though I drink it year round, I am glad to welcome back hot chocolate weather! I love the rain and gray skies. I wait for this weather all year. My favorite.
- Our battery for our much loved MacBook died...and I probably shouldn't say it...but maybe it knew Steve Jobs was going to also. Oh...that was horrible. But seriously, what a coincidence! Anyway, I'm waiting to post on my recipe blog until we get our new one, because I don't want to put my pictures on this computer. Also, my recipe blog is kind of on hold while I'm cleaning my kitchen. because I can't really cook until it's put back together.
- My baby is so big! She's about 5 months old now, and she can roll all around the room. I will probably start her on rice cereal in the next few weeks.
That's pretty much it.

are you kidding me?
So, Mr. Webb and I were talking the other day. We had just seen a commercial for Hershey's Air Delight. Have you seen the commercial or the candy bar in the store?
We just laughed and started joking. I'm not sure if this is exactly what we said, but it was along these lines:
Mr. Webb: "Can you just imagine the pitch meeting for that?"
Me: "Hehe...we're going to put some AIR in a candy bar and sell it!"
Mr. Webb: "You know what would make our chocolate taste better? AIR!"
Me: "We're going to charge people for air."
Both: Hysterically laughing
Anyhow, you get the idea.
I just can't believe that Hershey's stuck some air bubbles inside some mediocre chocolate and are (probably - I haven't actually seen it in stores) charging even more than a regular candy bar for it.
Silly people. Don't spend your money on air. It's already free! Just breathe in and eat some chocolate.
Same thing, people. Same thing.

Momentary relief for my desert-like throat.
Thank you, Kool-Aid. Thank you freezer. Thank you husband for bringing me an ice cube-sized popsicle every five seconds.

A smile is like the sunshine;
It brightens up the day.
It gives the eye a twinkle
And chases frowns away.

epistle to an onion
Dear Onion,
I know that I like to cut you up into little diced pieces, saute you, mix you into my pasta, and then proceed to eat you...but why, oh why must you be so cruel?
I do not enjoy the tears that stream down my face as I slide my knife through your many layers.
Do you not understand that this is the purpose for which you were made?
Hoping to be your friend,
Mrs. Webb

free books!
I just read a message from a friend, and thought I share this info with all of you.
If you have an iTunes account, you now have access to many, many books read aloud. If you go to the iTunes store, one of the tabs at the top says iTunes U (this stands for University). Then type in lit2go, and voila! A great list of books to listen to!
I love read aloud books, although I usually like to listen to books I've already read so that I know what's going on if I stop paying attention for awhile. However, I am downloading The Scarlet Letter from iTunesU, because I've wanted to read it for awhile. So now, I'm going to "read" it.
They also have nursery rhymes, fairy tales, poems, and other fun things to explore!
I'm excited to get started!

july birthday cupcakes
I made these for my father-in-law and brother-in-law's birthdays. We celebrated the birthdays on Sunday night, and I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting, white chocolate shavings, and a yummy addition!
My cupcakes turned out absolutely perfect...
Here's the final result:
Last week, I also got a new camera! It's a Sony TX7 Cybershot. And it takes cool pictures like this:
And I made this super awesome no-sew purse, minus the pink flower. But, by a pure coincidence, I did happen to use the exact same cloth! Funny how that happened!

my latest
Here is my latest Peter Pan item which I am coveting...
Too bad it's crazy expensive...I mean...it's a clock. Seriously. An extremely cute clock, yes. But a clock.

new project
I've seen a few other people do this, and I've always wanted to give it a try, so here it goes.
I've started a new blog, where I'm going to take a picture every day and post it.
threesixtyfivepictures.blogspot.com
Check it out or don't. I'm doing this mostly for myself, so I don't really care. My first two pictures are pretty cool, though. :)

magic bullet is magic!
As a more-than-a-month-early birthday present, Mr. Webb purchased me a Magic Bullet on a killer sale! I absolutely love it! I got it on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning we made strawberry-pineapple smoothies, and at this very moment I am sipping a delicious malt. It's the best more-than-a-month-early birthday present I've ever received!
I = LOVE!
One more thing that I got this week. A Chi straightener for $20! What!? It's amazing! I can straighten my hair in half the time, and it doesn't make my hair frizzy. It makes it soft and smooth.
Best non-birthday week ever!

a joke, courtesy of my brother
Knock, knock
(this is where you'd say, "Who's there?")
Goliath
(and now you'd say, "Goliath who?")
"Goliath" down, you looketh tired!
I cracked up when my brother told me this joke, and he thought I was lame.

and now for a disgusting post (i warned you, sis)
This is my littlest piggy aka pinky toe after five days of being bandaged, having antibiotic cream smeared on it, and living in flip-flops instead of squishy shoes.
I'm a super klutzy person, and I actually sliced my toe open with a broken corner of a mirror. Yes. Yes, I made that happen. Of course, I also broke my own arm in elementary school, so I guess anything is possible! Anyway, I'm thinking my toe might actually let me wear normal shoes to work tomorrow, so I can be all professional again. We'll see. It's been slightly painful.
